Jr. NBA League Hamburg

The Jr. NBA League is more than just a school competition – it’s a first step into the world of professional basketball.

Since 2022, the Jr. NBA League Hamburg has been a joint project of the NBA and the German Basketball Federation (DBB), with the goal of supporting young talent in the school environment. The league is aimed at students in grades 5 and 6 and combines the joy of the game with the inspiration of the world’s greatest basketball league.

Each participating school team is assigned a real NBA team – including officially designed jerseys. Games are played in a league format with a regular season, playoffs, and a final tournament, following the NBA model.

As an official partner and driving force behind this initiative, HIB Academy e.V. plays an active role in shaping its success. In close cooperation with the Elite School of Sports Hamburg, we support school teams both organizationally and athletically – through training sessions, tactical workshops, and mental preparation. We draw on our international experience and our English-speaking training culture to prepare young players for global standards from an early age.

Our mission: To spark enthusiasm, identify talent, and create opportunities – using basketball as a powerful tool for growth, fairness, and team spirit.

We’re happy to support you in getting started?

School teams from grades 5 and 6 in Hamburg and the surrounding area are eligible to participate. The only requirement is a commitment to regular training and participation on game days. Whether you’re a sports-oriented class or a school club – we’ll support you with organization, training plans, and team uniforms.

The HIB Academy e.V. is your experienced partner and will accompany your school throughout the entire season – from registration to the final tournament.
